10/03/1982 (Mexico)

For over ten years, and before the Great Confinement, I used to manage large and small festivals. It all started in 2009 at CutOut Fest, a newly created animation festival that shortly after would become the most prestigious in Mexico, and from then on I organically leaped into other disciplines and formats.

Music, digital art, film, graphic design, I feel attracted to any region of creativity where art and technology intersect. My fuel was thousands of attendees hungry for inspiration and knowledge.

I was Project Manager of Sónar Mexico in its first edition (2019) and served in so many others as Operations Manager, General Producer, Programmer, Curator, Hospitality Coordinator and Talent Booker -negotiating contracts for personalities such as Edward Snowden, James Cameron, Darren Aronofssky or Gaspar Noé-.

The pandemic broke out in 2020 and the world's festivals became a tundra. My professional life succumbed. Another quantum leap brought me to Barcelona. Niche streaming is the thing today. Fast forward thirteen years of co-directing a successful animation festival. Boom! Today I'm the Editor-in-Chief and Acquisitions Manager of glitch!, the world's first animation streaming platform focused on non-kid audiences. (Yes, there are hundreds of anime streaming services, but glitch! is not anime).

Animation is fascinating, one of the few territories that still allow for continuous "first time" experiences. What other sphere of life offers something similar? Perhaps promiscuity. But unlike the latter, animation brings a sense of wholesomeness. It glorifies the viewer. It has the power to reshape things because its very nature is trans-formative.

So today I aspire to transform. That's what I've learned. Whether public or private spaces, robot music festivals, cultural celebrations, thought patterns, small communities... My desire is to facilitate environments where the free exchange of ideas, the sharing of knowledge and pure playfulness permeate everything. If possible, through the intersection of art and technology.

I'm currently based in Mataró, Barcelona!
